Effurun High Court Orders Remand of Delta Commissioner Amid Assault Allegations
A High Court sitting in Effurun, Delta State, has reportedly ordered the remand of the State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Reuben Izeze, for 14 days in connection with the alleged assault on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s protocol aide, Mr. Simon Mudi (popularly known as Temple).
The order follows the violent disruption of an APC stakeholders’ meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute Conference Centre, Effurun, in July, during which Mr. Mudi was allegedly attacked. Hon. Izeze was among senior APC figures present at the meeting when the incident occurred.
As investigations continue, the Delta State Government has announced the indefinite suspension of Hon. Izeze (Commissioner for Works, Highway and Urban Roads) to allow security agencies conduct an impartial inquiry.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the government explained that the suspension was necessary to ensure due process and prevent interference with ongoing investigations.
The administration reiterated its commitment to upholding public safety, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding the sanctity of human life.
