Wife of Nigerian High Court Judge Kidnapped by Suspected Bandits

Wife of a High Court judge, Zainab Abbas, has been kidnapped by suspected Bandits.

According to reports, Zainab Abbas was forcefully taken away at approximately 2 am on Wednesday from her residence in Nyibango, which is located just a short distance from where Reverend Ochigbo was abducted two weeks ago.

The Nyibango neighborhood, situated next to the Nigerian Army headquarters’ 23 brigade in Yola, the state capital, has gained a notorious reputation for kidnapping for ransom and other violent crimes.

The neighborhood is currently filled with palpable tension, as some residents are contemplating leaving the area due to the frequent attacks by kidnappers.

The Adamawa State Police Command has officially confirmed Zainab Abbas’ abduction to SaharaReporters on Wednesday morning. The spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, verified the incident, stating, “The victim was kidnapped at her residence behind Royal Ambassadors Hotel in the Nyibango neighborhood.”

He further stated, “The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has deployed operatives from the Crack Squad, Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT), and other tactical squads to conduct a strategic and intelligence-driven rescue operation in criminal hideouts and black spots. The aim is to rescue the kidnapped wife of the High Court Judge, apprehend the kidnappers, and bring to justice their collaborators who seek to disrupt peace in the state.”

“Those deployed to rescue the victim will ensure the arrest of the culprits as a further manifestation of the command’s determination to diligently prosecute offenders.

“This deployment will surely assist in coordinating timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on those found committing crimes, as the command has deployed electronic devices to record pictorial evidences of those involved.

“The CP has equally directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and Deployment to coordinate the designed rescue operation as all divisional police officers are to adopt a stop and Search exercise in their respective areas of responsibility, especially midnights to ensure total domination of the public space, prevent escape of criminals and possible arrest of trouble makers.”
