Nigerian Dancer Poco Lee to Face UK Court in September Over Alleged Assault
Popular Nigerian dancer and socialite, Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, is currently being held on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, over an alleged assault offence.
The development was confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, founder of the Nigerian community in the UK, who said Poco Lee remains in custody pending a plea hearing. Kuti explained that the hearing will determine whether the accused enters a guilty or not-guilty plea, stressing that “everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, added that he plans to attend the proceedings to support the Nigerian community and ensure Poco Lee receives appropriate representation during the trial process.
Reports of the dancer’s detention first surfaced online on August 19, though early accounts did not disclose the complainant’s identity or details of the alleged offence.
The Snaresbrook Crown Court has confirmed the trial inquiry over an alleged sexual assault involving the entertainer.
In its response, the court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, confirmed that the matter is official and listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026.
However, Baker said the court could not provide the specific time or courtroom details ahead of the hearing.
He wrote: “OFFICIAL. Good afternoon. I can confirm that this case is currently listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation on the 15th September 2026.
“Criminal Court hearings are open to the public. Precise times and courtroom information will not be available until the day before the hearing. Many thanks.”
