Matawalle loses reelection bid in Zamfara
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the results of governorship elections in Zamfara state.
Zamfara’s incumbent governor, Matawalle Bello, lost his reelection bid to Lawal Dare of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in what can be considered the biggest upset of the 2023 General Elections.
The returning officer for the election, Kasimu Shehu, said Dare scored 377,726 votes to defeat Matawalle, who polled 311, 976 votes.
