Federal High Court grants Bello Bodejo ₦2bn bail in Abuja
The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in the sum of ₦2 billion over an alleged money laundering case involving $2.63 million.
Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo stated that the offences brought against Bodejo are bailable and that the court had the discretion to grant him temporary freedom pending the outcome of the trial.
The court, however, attached strict conditions to the bail. Bodejo was ordered to provide two sureties valued at ₦2 billion each.
According to the ruling, one of the sureties must be a resident of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and must present evidence of three years’ tax clearance. The second surety is required to own landed property within Abuja worth ₦2 billion.
The court also directed Bodejo to surrender his international passport to the registrar and prohibited him from travelling outside Nigeria without prior approval from the court.
Justice Ekwo noted that although the allegations against the defendant are serious, the law permits the court to exercise its discretion in granting bail where the offences are bailable.
The case has been adjourned to October 5, 6, and 7, 2026, when trial proceedings are expected to begin.
