Ex‑AGF Abubakar Malami Emerges ADC Governorship Candidate in Kebbi State

Former Attorney‑General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami SAN, has formally been affirmed as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Kebbi State in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. His emergence follows a consensus arrangement within the party, making him the unopposed aspirant in the ADC primaries.

Malami, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC, announced his candidacy through a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka. The statement also unveiled ADC’s senatorial candidates for Kebbi State.

According to the statement, ADC Governorship Candidate (Kebbi State)is Dr. Abubakar Malami SAN while Retired Major General Aminu Bande was affirmed Kebbi Central Senatorial District. Retired Deputy Comptroller General Ibrahim Muhammad Mera secured Kebbi North Senatorial District and Garba Danjuma Limi emerged Kebbi South Senatorial District.

Malami expressed gratitude to ADC leaders and supporters, describing his affirmation as a reflection of confidence in his leadership capacity. He pledged commitment to purposeful leadership, good governance, justice and security, and sustainable development

He further stated: “Together, with unity and determination, we shall build a more prosperous future for generations to come.”

Since declaring his interest under the ADC platform, Malami has criticised the Idris administration’s handling of insecurity and economic challenges. Conversely, the APC has accused Malami of political opportunism and misgovernance during his tenure as AGF under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
