Edo Special Court Sentences Four to Death for Kidnapping and Cultism
The Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City has sentenced four men to death for offences bordering on kidnapping, membership of a secret cult, and other violent crimes.
Delivering judgment at the Special Criminal Court, Justice Terry Momodu Aigbona convicted the gang leader, Isaac Marvellous, aged 32, on all 11 counts and ordered that he be executed by hanging or lethal injection.
The other condemned convicts are Wisdom Michael (36), Rufus Michael (30), and Gift Raphael (27). They were all found guilty on charges of kidnapping, cultism, and violent crimes.
Justice Aigbona’s ruling, which lasted over three hours, also imposed varying prison terms on other suspects linked to the case. The court further directed that firearms recovered from the convicts be handed over to the Federal Government as exhibits.
