Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital, has granted the request by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to withdraw a suit it instituted against Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru, challenging his nomination as governorship candidate by the All-Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections.
The PDP in a suit challenged the validity of the nomination of Nwifuru by the APC on the ground that he was still a member of the People’s Democratic Party and could not had been nominated by the APC as its governorship candidate in the State.
Meanwhile, in a session on Tuesday, Counsel to the PDP, Adams Oboke, told the Court that the plaintiff voluntarily applied for the withdrawal the case and urged that the case be struck out
Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa in a ruling consequently struck out the case, granting the prayer of the plaintiff for leave to discontinue.
