Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Ex-Minister Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) a warrant of arrest against Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, following allegations of forged academic and NYSC credentials.

In a ruling delivered on Thursday, the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, granted the order following an ex parte application filed by the Commission in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.Mr. Nnaji, appointed minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, resigned after allegations surfaced that he forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials submitted during his ministerial screening.

The ICPC, through counsel Osuobeni Akponimisingha, informed the court that the motion was necessitated by Nnaji’s persistent refusal to honour invitations for investigation. The Commission prayed for leave to declare him wanted in national dailies and digital platforms, and sought authority for operatives, enforcement agents, and private citizens to arrest and deliver him to the ICPC.The court granted all reliefs sought, ruling that the warrant shall subsist until the arrest of the former minister.Notably, Nnaji has recently emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State for the 2027 elections.
