Lawyer Sues President Buhari, AGF, Governor Sanwo-Olu, Army, Others Over Lekki Massacre [Download]
A Nigerian Lawyer, Yusuf Temilola Nurudeen, has sued the President, Muhammadu Buhari over the Lekki Massacre on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
It will be recalled that on the said date, men of the Nigerian Armed Forces opened fire on youths holding peaceful #EndSARS protests at the Lekki Toll Plaza.
The shootings, which occured in the evening, came after Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu earlier ordered a Curfew in the state that began at 4pm.
A wide outcry followed the actions of the military, leading to several lootings and reports of vandalism across Lagos and some other states as the #EndSARS protest became violent.
Also joined defendants in Nurudeen’s suit are the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Governor Sanwo-olu, the Attorney General of Lagos State, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police Force, the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector General of Police, Brigadier-General Francis Omata, and M.I. Yahya.
