The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action, blacklisting Ayrtons Saunders Ltd, a UK-based company, and imposing a total ban on all its products marketed in Nigeria by Mofus Nig. Ltd. This stringent measure follows NAFDAC investigations that uncovered significant regulatory violations concerning the importation, distribution, and supply of regulated products linked to Ayrtons Saunders Ltd.
According to a public notice issued by the agency, these violations constitute a serious breach of Nigerian food and drug regulatory requirements. NAFDAC’s mandate to protect public health and ensure the availability of safe, effective, and quality-regulated products in the Nigerian market has been undermined by the actions attributed to Ayrtons Saunders Ltd.
In response, NAFDAC has implemented several critical regulatory actions. Firstly, Ayrtons Saunders Ltd is now blacklisted from engaging in any regulated product business within Nigeria indefinitely. Secondly, all regulated products manufactured, imported, supplied, or distributed by the company are prohibited from importation, distribution, sale, and use in Nigeria until further notice.
The agency has also warned of severe consequences for any attempts to circumvent these directives. Such actions will attract escalated enforcement measures, significant regulatory sanctions, and international reporting to relevant regulatory bodies. NAFDAC has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct immediate surveillance and mop up any affected or non-compliant products associated with Ayrtons Saunders Ltd.
NAFDAC urges all stakeholders, including distributors, suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, healthcare providers, and consumers, to exercise extreme caution and vigilance. They are advised to ensure that all regulated products are sourced from genuinely authorized and licensed suppliers, and to meticulously check their authenticity and physical condition. Businesses and individuals currently in possession of any affected products are instructed to cease their sale or use immediately and submit their stock to the nearest NAFDAC office. This action underscores NAFDAC’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s pharmaceutical and food supply chain.
