Nigerian fintech giant Flutterwave has secured a strategic investment from blockchain infrastructure company Ripple as part of its ongoing Series E funding round, which values the company at USD 3.2 B.
Founded in 2016 by Olugbenga “GB” Agboola and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Flutterwave provides payment infrastructure that enables businesses to accept and process payments across Africa. The partnership will see Flutterwave integrate Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and XRP Ledger technology into its payments ecosystem to enable faster, cheaper, and more efficient cross-border transactions.
Flutterwave has processed over 1 billion transactions in excess of USD 50 B, serves global and African customers like Uber, Air Peace, Bamboo, PiggyVest, and across various industries.
The companies also plan to connect Flutterwave’s network with Ripple Payments through a unified API. Flutterwave said the investment will accelerate its stablecoin strategy and strengthen its position as a bridge between traditional finance and digital asset infrastructure across Africa.
