Soludo Elected Governor of Anambra, Secures Victory in All 21 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), duly elected as Governor of Anambra State, having secured victory across all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The declaration was made by the State Returning Officer, Professor Omoregie Edoba, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, at the INEC State Headquarters in Awka on Sunday, 9 November, following the lawful collation of results from the respective LGAs.

In his pronouncement, Professor Edoba stated: “I hereby declare that Soludo Chukwuma Charles of the APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby returned elected as Governor of Anambra State.”

According to the official figures released by INEC, Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA polled 422,664 votes, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC garnered 99,445 votes, Paul Chukwuma of YPP scored 37,753 votes, John Nwosu of ADC got 8,208 votes, George Moghalu of LP secured 10,576 votes and Jude Ezenwafor of PDP got 1,401 votes.

It is noteworthy that Governor Soludo defeated his closest challengers, Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC) and George Moghalu (LP), even in their respective strongholds of Nnewi North and Nnewi South LGAs.

INEC further disclosed that out of 2,788,864 registered voters, a total of 598,229 were accredited. Of the 595,298 votes cast, 584,054 were valid, while 11,244 were rejected in accordance with electoral guidelines.
