PW1 Reveals How ONSA Funds Were Funneled to Private Firms Linked to Dasuki, Baba‑Kusa

At the resumed trial of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the first prosecution witness (PW1) narrated before Justice C.O. Agbaza of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, how multi‑million‑naira funds were allegedly diverted from the Operations Account of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) into private companies linked to the defendants.

Dasuki, the first defendant, is standing trial alongside Aminu Baba‑Kusa, a former General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and two corporate entities—Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited (RRH)—on an amended 32‑count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and money laundering involving approximately ₦33.2 billion.

Led in evidence by prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, the EFCC investigator testified that the Commission wrote to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to ascertain the registration and ownership details of several companies that featured in the investigation, including Acacia Holdings Limited, Aravcaria Farms, RRH, and Pinmax Security and Gas. The CAC’s responses, tendered as Exhibits E1–E4, revealed that Acacia Holdings Limited is owned by the second defendant, with Aravcaria Farms and Pinmax Security identified as sister companies. It was further disclosed that the second defendant’s wife holds 1.8 million shares in Acacia Holdings Limited.

The witness also testified that the EFCC obtained account statements and opening documents for the ONSA Operations Account (No. 101419287) domiciled with Zenith Bank Plc. Payment mandates from the account, duly signed by Dasuki, directed debits amounting to ₦650,750,000 to be transferred into Acacia Holdings Limited’s accounts with UBA and Ecobank, as well as RRH’s account with First Bank.

The account statement also showed disbursements to individuals and entities, including a ₦3 million cheque withdrawal by Atahiru Maccido, Acacia’s financial controller, on October 14, 2014. On October 15, 2014, ₦1 million was transferred to Aravcaria Farms Limited, while ₦2 million was debited in two tranches to offset directors’ loans.
