The Ogun State Police Command has instituted a six‑count charge of cyberbullying against activist Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, before the Federal High Court, Abeokuta Division, alleging violations of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
The prosecution contends that Onajobi used social media platforms to disseminate false accusations against the Ogun State Government and to bully Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The charges arose following petitions over videos posted online in which she criticised the governor’s performance, including claims of inadequate emergency medical services and misuse of public funds.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, Onajobi was invited for questioning on 2 January 2026 but failed to appear.
Onajobi through her lawyer, claimed she was medically incapacitated and submitted a medical report. Subsequent investigations revealed the report was fabricated.
Babaseyi said the doctor who issued the report admitted it was falsified at Onajobi’s instruction and has since been arraigned before a magistrates’ court for conspiracy, uttering false documents, and obstruction of justice.
The Police maintain that Onajobi has remained evasive and her whereabouts are currently unknown.
The Command has vowed to exhaust all lawful means to secure her attendance in court to answer the charges.
The statement emphasized that while freedom of expression is constitutionally protected, it does not extend to criminal conduct under Nigerian law.
The allegations stem from videos in which Onajobi accused the state of failing to provide functional ambulances during a fatal accident involving Nigerian‑born British boxer Anthony Joshua’s associates in December 2025.
She further alleged that the government purchased SUVs for local government chairmen while neglecting urgent public health needs.
Investigations into other individuals allegedly connected to the dissemination of false information are ongoing.
