NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, Leads Lawyers on Health Walk in Enugu to Kick Off 2025 Annual Conference
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, on the morning 23rd of August 2025 (yesterday morning), led members of the Bar on the traditional NBA Health Walk in Enugu. The exercise formed part of the activities lined up for the 2025 Annual General Conference of the Association.
Now a cherished tradition of the NBA Annual General Conference, the health walk underscored the importance of physical fitness and overall wellness in the legal profession. Addressing participants, the NBA President noted that the demands of legal practice—long hours, intense concentration, and significant mental and physical strain—make it essential for lawyers to deliberately invest in their health.
“The health walk is more than a routine; it reinforces the fact that staying fit is essential for sustaining the strength and clarity we need to serve justice and society,” Osigwe stated. He described the initiative as a symbolic and practical way to set the tone for the week‑long conference.
According to him, beginning the conference with an energizing activity helps lawyers prepare for the intellectual sessions, rigorous debates, and vibrant social engagements that define the NBA’s flagship annual event. He urged members of the Bar to see wellness as a professional responsibility, not just a personal choice.
The walk attracted a large turnout of delegates and was marked by camaraderie, cheer, and a shared commitment to healthy living. Commending the enthusiasm of participants, the NBA President reaffirmed that while the Bar stands tall in the defence of justice, it must also stand strong in health. The 2025 Annual General Conference is holding in Enugu from 22nd to 29th August, under the theme “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”
