IGP Kayode Elevates Nigeria Police Force Legal Section to Directorate of Legal Services

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode, has approved the elevation of the Nigeria Police Force’s Legal Section into a fully fledged Directorate of Legal Services.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, this upgrade marks a significant step in the Force’s ongoing strategic reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and boosting operational efficiency.

Egbetokun explained that the new directorate will establish a clear institutional identity for all legal operations within the Force.

By consolidating legal functions under a dedicated directorate, the Force aims to foster greater cohesion among its departments.

Adejobi outlined that the Directorate of Legal Services will serve as the Nigeria Police Force’s apex legal arm, charged with coordinating and delivering comprehensive legal support.

Its core responsibilities will include tailored legal training programs, in-depth policy reviews, and structured collaboration with prosecutorial bodies, the judiciary, and other key justice-sector stakeholders.
