The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, February 9, 2026, arraigned Gidado Ibrahim and Halimat Adenike Tejusho (currently at large) before Justice H. Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on an amended six‑count charge bordering on fraud, obtaining money under false pretence, and forgery to the tune of ₦603,400,000.
According to the prosecution, between August and October 2024, the defendants allegedly obtained the sum from Oluseye Yomi‑Sholoye under the false representation that they could facilitate her appointment as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The EFCC further alleged that Ibrahim used forged documents purporting to emanate from the Office of the National Security Adviser at the Presidential Villa.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all six counts. Following his plea, prosecution counsel Y. Tarfa applied for a trial date and requested his remand in a correctional facility. Defence counsel B. B. Alhaji, however, informed the court of a pending bail application, urging that Ibrahim be remanded in EFCC custody due to health concerns until the bail hearing.
Justice Muazu adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendant’s remand in Kuje Correctional Facility.
