Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke (Davido) is facing a ₦1 billion lawsuit over allegations of harassment, cyberbullying, defamation, and threats directed at Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, counsel to Sophia Momodu.
In a pre‑action notice dated February 24, 2026, issued by Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors, the firm accused Davido of orchestrating a sustained campaign of abuse following proceedings in Suit No: LD/1587PMC/2024 – David Adeleke v. Sophia Momodu before the High Court of Lagos State.
The notice alleged that during a hearing on February 12, 2026, Davido verbally abused Mrs. Enedah in open court, disobeyed a directive to apologise, and later escalated matters through posts on his verified social media accounts. These posts, allegedly viewed by millions, were said to expose the lawyer to threats, ridicule, and reputational damage.
Punuka argued that branding a legal practitioner as “the worst lawyer ever” amounted to malicious defamation and an attack on her professional standing. The firm further claimed that Davido’s conduct extended to individuals mistakenly identified as her relatives, thereby subjecting them to public hostility.
The demands include:
– Immediate cessation of commentary on the matter while it remains sub judice.
– Public retraction and apology across Davido’s verified social media platforms.
– Publication of a formal written apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers.
Failure to comply, the firm warned, would trigger formal legal proceedings, with Mrs. Enedah seeking ₦1bn in damages for reputational and emotional harm.
