Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of Pretty Mike’s Victoria Island Nightclub

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted an order of interim forfeiture over the Victoria Island property of Lagos socialite and entertainer, Mike Nwalie (popularly known as Pretty Mike), following allegations that the premises were used for drug storage and distribution.

Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, Justice Musa Kakaki granted the order after hearing an ex parte application filed by counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Buhari Abdulahi.

The property in question, Proxy Lagos Night Club, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, was alleged to have been used to store 169 cylinders (384.662kg) of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.

According to the NDLEA, the nightclub is owned by Mike Nwalie and managed by Joachim Hillary, who allegedly used the premises as a base for storing and distributing controlled substances in preparation for a planned drug‑themed party.

In an affidavit deposed to by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, the NDLEA stated that it received credible intelligence in October 2025 about preparations for the illicit event. Acting on this intelligence, operatives of the Lagos Strategic Command conducted a midnight raid on 26 October 2025, recovering the substances and arresting over 200 persons, including the two respondents. Laboratory analysis confirmed the seized items as controlled drugs.

Moving the motion dated 27 October 2025, Abdulahi urged the court to order the interim forfeiture of the nightclub to the Federal Government, describing it as an “instrumentality of crime” under the NDLEA Act. He further sought an order suspending all activities at the premises pending the conclusion of investigations.

Counsel argued that the interim forfeiture was necessary to preserve the property during ongoing investigations, stressing that “no party would be prejudiced” by the order.

After reviewing the motion and supporting documents, Justice Kakaki granted the interim forfeiture order and directed that all activities at Proxy Lagos Night Club remain suspended until investigations are concluded. The matter was adjourned to 28 January 2026 for further hearing.
