Justice Emmanuel Sublim of the National Industrial Court, Abuja Division, has granted an interim order restraining the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) from embarking on its proposed industrial action against Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE.
In a ruling delivered on an ex parte application on Monday, the court specifically restrained the defendants, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), from cutting crude oil and gas supply to the Dangote Refinery.
The court, in granting the application, upheld the submissions of the applicant’s counsel, Mr. George Ibrahim, SAN, who argued that irreparable harm could result if the orders sought were not made.
Consequently, Justice Sublim issued an interim injunction restraining PENGASSAN from proceeding with its planned strike action in relation to its dispute with the applicant. He further directed the NNPCL, NMDPRA, and NUPRC not to give effect to any directive from PENGASSAN aimed at disrupting crude or gas supply to the refinery.
The court also ordered that the restraining order and originating processes be served on all the defendants without delay and adjourned the matter to October 13, 2025, for hearing of the motion on notice.
