Rivers Chief Judge Constitutes Election Tribunals for 2025 Local Government Poll Disputes

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, has constituted election tribunals to hear and determine petitions arising from the Local Government Council elections scheduled for 30 August 2025.
Details of the constitution of the tribunals were contained in a letter dated 18 August 2025, which became public on Monday, 25 August 2025.
According to the letter, the newly established Local Government Election Tribunals will be chaired by Chief Magistrates Kilsi Giadom, Harry Sotonye Linda, and Chimenem B. Okekem. Each will preside over a separate panel.
In the correspondence titled “2025 Local Government Councils’ Election Tribunals”, Justice Amadi stated that the appointments were made pursuant to Section 1(1)–(4) of the Rivers State Local Government Election Tribunals Law, No. 3 of 2000 (as amended).
The first tribunal will be chaired by Chief Magistrate Kilsi Giadom, with Promise Green and Ven. Christian John-Jaja serving as members.
The second tribunal will be led by Chief Magistrate Harry Sotonye Linda, with Anthony Enyinda and Azubuike Georgewill as members. The third tribunal will be chaired by Chief Magistrate Chimenem B. Okekem, alongside Israel Dagogo Israel and Ala Atonibere as members.
Justice Amadi congratulated the appointees and assured them that their swearing-in would take place within the week. He added that the exact date and time would be communicated to them by the Chief Registrar.
