Katsina State High Court 9 has condemned two men to death for the murder of Rabe Nasir, the state’s former Commissioner for Science and Technology.
Nasir was killed on December 8, 2021, inside his home at Fatima Shema Housing Estate. The court found that Shamsu Lawal, once the commissioner’s security guard, and Tasi’u Rabi’u, who worked as his cook, resorted to poisoning when their plan to steal from him fell apart.
Medical tests revealed lethal toxins in Nasir’s body, a finding that matched police evidence of deliberate poisoning. Both the prosecution and defence teams voiced their satisfaction with how the trial was conducted and with the final judgment.
