NBA-AGC 2026 Announces The Revered Shehu Of Borno As Royal Father Of The Day

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is honoured to announce that *His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, CFR,* the revered *Shehu of Borno,* has graciously accepted the Association’s invitation to serve as the Royal Father of the Day at the Opening Ceremony of the 66th Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC 2026) in Port Harcourt from 21 to 28 August 2026.

Widely respected for his exemplary leadership, wisdom and unwavering commitment to peace, unity and national development, His Eminence stands as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished traditional rulers. His presence at the Conference underscores the enduring role of traditional institutions in promoting justice, strengthening democratic governance and fostering national cohesion.

The participation of the Shehu of Borno adds remarkable prestige and cultural significance to what is already shaping up to be one of the most distinguished Annual General Conferences in the history of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The announcement follows the confirmation of former President of the Republic of Liberia, *George Weah,* as the Keynote Speaker for the Conference. Under the leadership of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, *Afam Osigwe, SAN*, the Association is assembling an exceptional cast of distinguished personalities whose participation reflects the stature, influence and growing global appeal of the Annual General Conference.

The immediate past Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN, will grace the President’s Dinner of the 66th Annual General Conference (AGC) as the Dinner Speaker.

Professor Osinbajo will deliver the highly anticipated President’s Dinner Talk, one of the flagship events of the Conference, bringing together leaders of the Bench and Bar, senior public officials, business executives and distinguished guests for an evening of fellowship and intellectual engagement.

In addition, the former Vice President and Professor of Law will feature as a speaker at one of the Conference’s plenary sessions, where he will share his perspectives on leadership, governance, the legal profession and Nigeria’s future.
