LPPC Suspends Mike Ozekhome’s SAN Title Pending Disciplinary Proceedings

Renowned constitutional lawyer and human rights advocate, Professor Mike Ozekhome, has been suspended from using the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The decision was announced by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) during its 173rd General Meeting.

In a statement issued by the committee’s Secretary, Kabiru Eniola Akanbi, the suspension was carried out in line with Paragraph 26(6) of the Guidelines for the Conferment of the SAN Rank and other provisions governing the award.

Akanbi explained that the action is temporary and will remain in effect pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings currently being handled by the LPPC’s Disciplinary and Ethics Sub-Committee.

According to the committee, the suspension is aimed at preserving the integrity, dignity, and reputation associated with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

As a result, Ozekhome has been directed not to present himself or act in any capacity as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria until the disciplinary matter is concluded.
