Wike Urges Benchers to Shun Destructive Criticism, Focus on Institutional Development

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on members of the Body of Benchers and other professionals to move beyond destructive criticism of government and instead channel their influence toward strengthening institutions.

Speaking in Abuja while hosting delegates of the Body of Benchers led by Chairman Albert Akpomudje, Wike stressed that public officers are remembered for tangible developmental projects, not the volume of criticism they attract. He cited his own initiatives in constructing housing and court complexes for the judiciary, noting that leaders who dwell excessively on criticism risk losing sight of their legacy.

Wike commended successive leaders of the Body of Benchers for consistently seeking government intervention to improve infrastructure for the legal profession. He announced that the annex building of the Body of Benchers would be completed by June, with surrounding access roads already nearing completion. He also approved a new request for an additional access road to the annex.
