A group of 65 disengaged employees of Premium Pension Limited have instituted a multi‑billion Naira action against the company before the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Abuja Judicial Division. The suit seeks redress for what the claimants describe as the wrongful, illegal, and unconscionable termination of their employment contracts without notice or payment of agreed entitlements.
The matter, filed under Suit No. NICN/ABJ/2025, is being prosecuted in a representative capacity by Ibrahim Usman Raji, Emmanuel Folorunsho, Mustapha Ibrahim, Saidu Sulaiman, and Muhammed Baba Ibrahim, on behalf of themselves and 61 other affected staff whose employment was terminated in August 2025.
In their originating processes, the claimants are urging the court to declare that valid contracts of employment subsisted between them and Premium Pension Limited up to the date of their disengagement. They further contend that their abrupt dismissal “without notice and without salary in lieu of notice” constitutes a breach of contract and a violation of international best practices in labour relations.
According to the pleadings made available to THISDAY, the former employees allege that disengagement letters were served on them on 4 August 2025, but were deliberately back‑dated to 29 July 2025 and made effective from 1 August 2025. The claimants argue that this manoeuvre was calculated to deprive them of accrued benefits, including the mandatory three‑month notice period and August education subsidies.
