A passenger who assaulted airline officials on an Ibom Air flight inbound Lagos from Uyo, Comfort Emmanson, has reportedly been charged to court.
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, who revealed this, said Emmanson has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility.
Moshood disclosed this in a post on X on Monday shortly after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, said enforcement action will soon become more frequent in Nigerian airports as unruly conduct by passengers becomes rampant.
Meanwhile, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has imposed a lifetime “no-fly” ban on Comfort Emmanson, barring her from boarding any member airline on both domestic and international routes.
The decision follows an incident on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos.
According to an AON statement, Ms. Emmanson defied crew instructions to switch off her mobile phone, physically assaulted airline staff, and attempted to wield a fire extinguisher as a weapon. The association described her actions as a grave threat to passengers, crew, and aircraft safety.
AON commended Ibom Air for what it called a “swift and professional” response to the disruption and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance toward unruly passengers. It also called on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to strengthen security measures at all airports.
The development is coming on the heels of a similar incident involving popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka KWAM 1 or K1 and an airline, ValueJet.
The musician attempted to stop the aircraft from taking off after he was deboarded.
