Federal High Court Unveils Lagos e-filing Platform June 23

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced that the e-filing platform for lawyers will become operational in the Lagos Division from June 23, 2025.

Adding that in light of this development, the final date for the manual filing of new cases in the judicial division has been set for June 20, 2025.

This announcement was made in a press statement titled “Notice to Lawyers and the General Public”, signed by the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Sulaiman Hassan.

The statement was made available to the media on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement noted that all cases instituted prior to the go-live date will continue to be processed manually until judgment is delivered and the matters are finally disposed of.

Meanwhile, the statement warned, “Any lawyer who, either deliberately or inadvertently, understates the amount claimed or incorrectly declares the number or type of documents filed, thereby causing an under-assessment of prescribed fees, shall be liable to pay the balance due, together with a penalty of ten thousand naira (₦10,000) for each filing”.

The Chief Registrar further explained that to ensure a seamless transition, all legal practitioners are required to obtain their Legal Mail accounts before the go-live date, stressing that possession of a Legal Mail address is a mandatory prerequisite for accessing the e-filing platform.

He advised lawyers to visit https://nigerianbar.ng to apply for their Legal Mail accounts.
